Fever

A fever — also known as a high fever or a high temperature — is not by itself an illness. It’s usually a symptom of an underlying condition, most often an infection. This is a serious condition and should not be left untreated.

Asthma

Asthma and allergies often go hand-in-hand. Asthma is a disease of the branches of the windpipe (bronchial tubes), which carry air in and out of the lungs. There are several different types of asthma.

Allergic reactions

Allergy symptoms include itchy eyes and skin, sneezing, nasal congestion, wheezing, and rash. Seasonal allergies result from grass, weed, tree pollen, or molds. Cat and dog dander allergies are common. Food allergies include peanut or milk.

Sprains & Strains

Sprains and strains are used interchangeably to describe everything from a twisted ankle to a pulled hamstring, but they are two specific injuries.

  • A sprain is a stretch or tear in a ligament (the bands of fibrous tissue that connect our bones at the joints).
  • A strain is also a stretch or tear, this time affecting the muscle itself or a tendon (the tissue that connect the muscles to the bones).

Fractures

A fracture (broken bone) is a common injury caused when a force exerted on a bone causes it to break. A closed fractures occurs when the broken bone does not puncture the skin. If it does protrude through the skin, it is called an open fracture.

Pain and Fatigue

Pain management is important for ongoing pain control, especially if you suffer with long-term or chronic pain. After getting a pain assessment, your doctor can prescribe pain medicine, other pain treatments, or psychotherapy to help with pain relief.
